We're Back!

So it has been nearly two years since we've posted anything on this blog! My only excuse is that in the last two years, we both graduated (me with my PhD in English Literature and Nate with his MA in Education Administration), moved from Urbana, Illinois to Worcester, Massachusetts, started new jobs (at Assumption College and Worcester Technical High School), and had another baby! Oh, and I forgot the logon password. But I'm on maternity leave this semester, and while chasing two kids is a lot harder than chasing one, I vow to keep up with the blog at least through the spring and summer.

About that new baby . . . Robert Nathan Meyer deserves his own posts, so stay tuned for the next one . . .

Spinner 1987-2010

Spinner's heart failed today, and he died peacefully in his pasture. Henry and I saw him the day before he died and he ate all the carrots we brought him. He was twenty three years old and my dear friend for seventeen of them.

Here are a few pictures we took about two weeks ago.

Graduation 2010

Henry had some celebrating to do this month!

Mom will earn her PhD in English Literature from the University of Illinois in August. Here she is with her dissertation director Lori at the May commencement ceremony. Henry is unimpressed by the robes and funny hats.

Henry thinks Nate's degree is in awesome daddiness. It is.

But he'll also earn an M.S. Ed in Education Administration and Foundations from Illinois State University this summer. Here we are celebrating at spring commencement! Henry is contemplating the situation very seriously. He's since decided to declare a major in electrical engineering.

After Mom defends her dissertation in June and Dad finishes his coursework this summer, we're all off to Worcester, Massachusetts where Mom starts her new job as an assistant professor in the fall.
