In early June, we went to the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico for a family vacation with my parents, my sister, and her family. Mom and Dad bought a little house there two years ago, and immediately started planning a big trip for all of us--we even had our tickets before Henry was born. We luckily avoided any travel problems like our previous Snowpocalypse experience in Seattle, but the curse is staying in the family--Sarah's gang were stuck in Texas for 10 hours on the way out. We all stayed in San Juan the first night, where Henry got reacquainted with his cousins and smothered in kisses from his grandparents.
Here his cousins are kissing/prodding him and saying, "It's like poking an upside down turtle!" So if he's afraid of older kids at school, we'll know who to blame.

The day after we arrived, we took a taxi to Fajardo to catch the ferry to the island of Vieques. Henry got tired of waiting and fell asleep, filled to the brim with pool water.

Henry loved the hotel pool--he happily gulped down the chlorinated water while I frowned sternly at his father for letting him do it.
We had a great day playing in the pool, went out to dinner (a major victory with six adults and four kids!) and walked on what we thought was a gorgeous beach. When we got to Vieques, we learned that there are even more gorgeous beaches than this one, and that they don't have any other people on them!
The passenger ferry had a little too much boat, ocean, and motion for my taste, but the kids enjoyed it and after an hour or so, we were in Vieques!
