My sister Sarah came to visit for five days this past week, and we are so grateful she was here. I had to go back to work, so she spent the mornings taking care of Henry for us while I met with my first-year teaching assistant advisees and observed classes. We are pretty sure she used that alone time to convince Henry he'd like to live in Idaho with his cousins, in spite of the fact that he's never even been there and won't meet them for another two weeks. But we'll let it slide because we love her so much. Henry was a very good sport during our marathon holiday shopping competition (yes, Sarah won, but she had to cheat to snag that present for Grandpa Gary) and he had lots of smiles and cuddles for his auntie. Thanks Sarah, for coming all the way to Illinois and helping us out so much while you were here. And we also owe a shout-out to her husband Gil, who wrangled their three kids by himself for the week, going to gymnastics and holiday recitals solo and covering quickly for an overworked Tooth Fairy. We can't wait to invade your house for a week at Christmas!
